Winter Olympics – Day 11
Summary of the Olympic Medals for 2-22-2010
Well here we are in the last 4 days of olympic competition. The time really passes when we view our favorite olympic events. Today there are twelve medals to be awarded as noted below were awarded today in the following events.
1. Ski Jumping Team Finals:
- Gold Austria
- Silver Germany
- Bronze Norway
- Austrian ‘Eagles’ with their youngest team member Gregor Schlierenzauer, 20, in his first olympics. He previously won 2 bronze medals for the large and the normal hill. Schlierenzauer definitely was the star of the event for his team. He added a team Gold medal.
2. Cross-Country Skiing Ladies
- Gold Germany
- Silver Swenden
- Bronze Russian Federation
- Germany’s team of Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle and Claudia Nystad completed the course in 18 minutes and 3.7 seconds. Just 0.6 seconds ahead of the Sweden Team and the Russians were 4.0 seconds from the pace. Claudia is known to be one of the best sprinters in cross-
country.
3. Cross-Country Skiing – Men’s
- Gold Norway
- Silver Germany
- Bronze Russian Federation
- Norway’s Petter Northug earned his second medal in the games, individual event. He excelled in the final leg of the event to win the team gold medal. Germany was 1.3 seconds back and took Silver and Russia was 1.5 seconds back receiving the bronze medal.
4. Figure Skating – Ice Dance – Free Dance
- Gold Canada
- Silver United States
- Bronze Russian Federation
- The Gold was taken by Canada’s Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir with their Spanish Flamenco and a overall total score of 111.15. The United States with thier Bollywood-themed Indian Dance that the crowds enjoyed very much and their overall total score of 108.55. The Russians earned the bronze with an overall score of 106.60.
