Is the Turkey Gone?

This was my first Thanksgiving in Blairsville, Georgia.  I awoke to the aroma of turkey cooking in the oven.  The smell gave the house a nice and warm feeling that said, “I’m glad I came home for the holidays.  I even took time off from my blog to celebrate Thanksgiving.

I spent Thanksgiving Day with my friends Erika and Charles and we all enjoyed a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner with my new friend Tracy.  We had a private party at Tracy’s friend’s restaurant, that was closed for the day.  There were 15 people all together.

It was great to meet new people and finding out where they came before living in Blairsville, GA.  Two were visiting for the winter from Michigan, two lived in another town in Georgia, and eleven had moved here from Florida.

We got on the subject of what to do with all the turkey leftovers. Here are some of the suggestions: turkey rice soup; turkey tortillas, turkey pot pie; open faced turkey and gravy sandwiches, turkey lasagna; turkey salad sandwiches; southwestern chili; Waldorf salad; Cranberry Quesadilla; Salsa Verde Wraps; Turkey Stuffing Pie and many, many more.  Well, the remaining turkey has been put in the freezer for later meals.

After dinner and dessert we told stories of past Thanksgiving’s and played games for hours.  I really enjoyed meeting mutual friends and look forward to another gathering because we all had so much fun.

I got home in plenty of time to rest up for Black Friday.  You could not beat the prices and it was worth getting up very early for the 5 am sale time.

This Thanksgiving was very special to me and I’m very thankful for all the dear friends and family that are in my life.  Each holds a special place in my heart.   It’s time to go back to work on my blog and internet marketing.  Happy Holidays to All…
